The 1994 classic Shaw shank redemption is about how people misjudge others.
The movie stars Tim Robbins as Andy Dufresne. He is in prison for murdering his wife. While he is in jail he befriends a few inmates, and he tells them that he is innocent. The inmates he is with do not believe him at first.
While he is in jail he is messed with by a gang inside the prison. He does his best to defend himself, but he can not keep them off. While he is working one day an officer is talking about some financial things, and since Andy was an accountant on the outside he helps him out. This friendship gets the officer to help him get the gang from hurting him.
After the help from the officer he helps other officers do taxes, and other financial activities. This helps him with get in touch with the warden. They work together, and start making money off of the convicts. This also allows Andy to do for others inside the prison. He starts a library with funds from his local government.
While in jail he meets a person who says that he knows the real murder of Andys wife. Andy chooses to help him get an education while in prison, and the inmate says he will help Andy with his jail time. The inmates struggles at first, but Andy helps him along the way and he is able to get a diploma. The inmates says he will help Andy out from his conviction. The warden finds out and has this inmate killed, because Andy is doing illegal things for the warden on the inside. After Andy finds out about the murder, he plans an escape, and it is very creative.
I will not ruin the ending if you have not seen the movie. But it does a great job of the old saying do not judge a book by its cover. Andy goes to jail for a crime he did not commit, but makes the best of his situation anyways.
The movie on its original release did not do as well as it has since it has made its way to home video. The story telling is great, and all the characters complement each other very well. I would recommend this movie to any person looking for a good film to watch. Even if they are not looking to get into films. It is a great film, and is rated as one of the highest films of all time.

Movie Review: V for Vendetta
Hello again this is Movie Connoisseur
The next movie I would like to review is V for Vendetta
This movie starring Hugo Weaving as V, and Natalie Portman as Evey takes a look at what can happen when a democracy turns into a dictatorship.
The movie revolves around the main character V who is a vigilanty towards the government, and is trying to show the people what is actually happening to them. The movie starts out with him blowing up a clock tower, and is doing other things to bring attention to what is happening with the government. While he is doing all these different things, he runs into Evey who is an employee of the local news station. He is about to be arrested when she decides to help him. This puts her in danger, and is injured in the process of helping him. V takes her to his secret hideout. From there shes decides that he is doing the right thing, but does not want to help him. She leaves, and is taken by people in black masks. She is tortured to find out information about V. While this is going on V gets people to march on the government.
Without spoiling too much events unfold, and show how the dictator came into power. This process killed many people in the process, and led V to become disfigured. While finding out all of this information, V decides to get revenge on the people who hurt him.
This movie is a good example of how fear can make people make the wrong decisions. The cinematography is fantastic, as well as the interaction between characters for this movie. The story jumps around a bit, and has a good twist on how everything unfolds, and fits together. It is a little bit gory, but nothing over the top, and has great story telling elements. I would recommend this movie to everyone who is looking for a new movie to choose.

Movie Review: Room (2015)
Hello this is Movie Connoisseur talking about another recent film called Room.
The movie stars Brie Larson as ma, and Jacob Tremblay as Jack. The movie starts off with Jack and ma living together in a very tight quartered room. They spend their days together doing everything inside this room. As the story progresses, you come to find out that Ma the main character was taken by a man in high school and was forced to live down there, and Jack is their son that she unwillingly had.
Jack is very young and does not know what his situation is, so his actions are not typical of what a person would imagine a hostage situation would look like. As the story progresses the audience starts to see how difficult it is for Ma having to deal with Jack, and her confinement. The man who captured her is there only part of the time, because he works. While the man is at work Ma devises a plan to try to escape. Jack pretends to be dead, and the man goes to get rid of his body. When Jack has an opportunity he escapes the man, and is able to find the police. From there he is able to rescue his mom.
The rest of the story deals with what the outcome of being held captive, and how the rest of the world treats you. Ma's parents, and grandparents do not know how to treat the whole situation.
This story shows the true side of how long term hostages have to adapt back into the real world. It is a dark film, and has a lot of taboo subjects that are not regularly addressed.
In recent years this situation has happened to people, and it shows the difficulty of adjusting. It also shows an outside perspective on how to deal with the situation.
The excellent part of this movie is that it is an original idea that sheds light on how people handle difficult situations. With it being so original it is hard to know where the movie is going with so many possible outcomes. It is a dark film, but it has a positive message on how people can grow, and deal with situations that are not the greatest.

Movie Review: Memento
I am back with another movie review. It is another classic film written, and directed by Chistopher Nolan. The film stars Guy Pearce, Carrie-Anne Moss, Joe Pantoliano. It is a great look into non-linear story telling.
Memento is about Leonard (Guy Pearce) who has lost his long term memory and can only use his short term memory for only a few hours, to even a few minutes at a time. He can remember up to what made him lose his memory, and before that, but anything after is completely gone. The way he remembers what is going on is he has a few things tattooed on himself, and cares notes with him.
The main idea of the story is Leonard trying to find out what happened to himself that made him lose his memory. The story is told from the end backwards. The movie shows the final scene, and shows the events leading to what happened backwards.
While he is out trying to figure out who killed him, he runs into a few characters. These characters are met at the end of the story and you understand how the characters meet and develop together backwards.
This movie can be found online and is shown backwards, or from the beginning to the end like a normal movie. This way of showing the film takes all the genius out of the way it was made. The non-linear part of the film is its greatest part especially, because of on the first watch you watch a character make a decision without seeing his reasoning. Then after the scene it shows a little bit before, and why characters made any decision. Putting the film backwards was a new way of story telling in films, and shows that movies do not have to follow a basic model to be a great film.

Movie Review: The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou
The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou is one of my favorite movies of all time, and today I would like to discuss why that is.
The movie is directed, and written by Wes Anderson. It stars Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Cate Blanchett, Anjelica Houstan, Willem Dafoe, and Jeff Goldblum. With this all star team it would be hard to make a bad movie. The music for the film was created by Seu Jorge who also had a part in the film. The music was mostley David Bowe covers Played by Seu Jorge, but sang in portuguese.
The film is about Captain Steve Zissou who make nature documentaries, and his life is falling down around him. He originally made stellar documentaries, with his crew, that people absolutely loved, but the films have slowley been getting worse. To make things even more awful in his last film his best friend, and crew mate was killed by an animal. This sets Steve to go out and find the animal and return the favor.
While Steve is getting set to go out and find this animal while filming another documentary, he runs into some odd situations. His marriage starts to fall apart, and his wife is the person funding the films. His long lost son Played by Owen Wilson contacts him, and ends up joining the crew to set out on this adventure. And finally, while they go out to film this a reporter played by Cate Blanchett joins the crew to document the film making process.
This film is very different from your standard every day movie. This is to be expected with Wes Andersons film making. The major thing that can be seen within the first few minutes of the film is that the way the characters interact with each other is very different. No character within the film falls flat personality wise. Every person has their own character traits, strengths, and flaws.
The next thing that is very apparent is the visuals within the film. One scene specifically comes to mind when Steve walks through the boat. The boat is visually shown cut in half. If you can imagine a two dimensional video game where a character can go left, right, up, and down, this is how the boat is shown.
The story is an action, adventure, comedy, and drama just to name a few genres it falls under. The movie feels very artistic, and if you are looking to branch out of the ordinary movie, I would recommend this.

6 Movie Trilogies For Begginers
Today I am going to look into some of the best movie trilogies of all time. When understanding trilogies, and their significance, a person has to under stand how hard it is to make a film, let alone three films. These trilogies will span across time, and genres and are in no specific order. I will go into the three movies that make up the trilogy, what genre they are in, and why they are important.I will link more about the films
1) The Dark Knight Trilogy- Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The dark Knight Rises
Genre: Superhero, Crime, Action
If you read my blog you can understand why I love these films. First off the movies are directed by Christopher Nolan, and have Christian Bale staring in them. These movies take a griddier look at how a super hero film can be shown.
Batman Begins
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0372784/?ref_=nv_sr_1
The Dark knight
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0468569/?ref_=nv_sr_1
The Dark knight rises
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1345836/?ref_=nv_sr_3
2) The Austin Powers Trilogy- Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Austin Powers in Goldmember
Genre: Comedy, Spy, Action
If you are looking into watching a comedy trilogy I would suggest starting here. Mike Myers plays a good chunk of the characters played across all three films, and some you will not recognize.
Austin powers: international man of mystery

Austin powers: the spy who shagged me
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0145660/?ref_=nv_sr_2
Austin Powers in goldmember
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0295178/?ref_=nv_sr_4
3) The original X-men Trilogy-X-Men, X-Men 2, X-Men: The Last Stand
Genre: Superhero, Action, Adventure
Yet another super hero trilogy, but these films also show how a good super hero movie can be made. They all have grit, and yet they all have a humor about them. The third movie in the trilogy is not as highly rated, but the films together tell a great story.
X-men
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120903/?ref_=nv_sr_5
X-men 2
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0290334/?ref_=nv_sr_1
X-men: the last stand
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0376994/?ref_=nv_sr_1
4) The Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy- Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
Genre: Adventure, Action
These Disney films show how a good pirate movie should be made, With the all star cast of Johnny Depp, Orlando Blume, and Keira Knightley. All three movies are worth the watch, and you will have a fun time with them all.
The curse of the black perl

Dead mans chest
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0383574/?ref_=nv_sr_1
At worlds end
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0449088/?ref_=nv_sr_1
5) The Evil Dead Trilogy- The Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, Evil Dead III: Army of Darkness
Genre: Horror
If you are looking to watch a series of frightening films, that also have some comedic aspects to lighten the movie up at times then this series is for you. The movies are extremely gory, and I would recommend only adults watching these films. Across the series they get more light hearted as they go, but be ready for a scare.
Evil Dead

Evil Dead II
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092991/?ref_=tt_rec_tt
Evil Dead III
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106308/?ref_=tt_rec_tt
6) Star Wars Trilogy- Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi
Genre: Sci-fi, Fantasy
What would this list be without Star Wars on it. Arguably the best trilogy ever made. I would recommend watching all three in a row if possible. The best representation of a space opera out there.
Episode 4
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076759/?ref_=nv_sr_4
Episode 5

A look into the past
Since I am further into my blogging I would like to take a look back into some of my earlier blogs.
My first blog was about the movie the six sense. I take a look at different visual cues throughout the movie that help the movie watcher better understand the movie. A couple things that I go through are the color red, and its meaning in the movie, Visual temperature changes, and Bruce Willis's conversations with people. If you are interested in finding out more click the link below.
http://movieknowhow.blogspot.com/2017/02/the-sixth-sense.html
The next blog I wrote about was Jaws. I go into an explanation of what a score is in a film compared to music. Then I took a look at Jaws score, and how it affected scenes within the movie. I give a visual description of how all the parts work together with the score and the visuals to help people understand why this aspect of the movie makes people feel suspense and terror. If you would like to see more about score and how it works within Jaws click the link below.
http://movieknowhow.blogspot.com/2017/02/jaws.html
To help movie goers get a more in depth view about film making I made a list of ten different Directors. This list is in no particular order, but it shows ten famous directors within the industry and the different film techniques they use. I also give out three or four different film recommendations per director to give an interested person things to watch by said director. If you are interested in taking a look into the directors and the film recommendations click the link below.
