The Shawshank Redemption

The 1994 classic Shaw shank redemption is about how people misjudge others.

The movie stars Tim Robbins as Andy Dufresne. He is in prison for murdering his wife. While he is in jail he befriends a few inmates, and he tells them that he is innocent. The inmates he is with do not believe him at first.

While he is in jail he is messed with by a gang inside the prison. He does his best to defend himself, but he can not keep them off. While he is working one day an officer is talking about some financial things, and since Andy was an accountant on the outside he helps him out. This friendship gets the officer to help him get the gang from hurting him.

After the help from the officer he helps other officers do taxes, and other financial activities. This helps him with get in touch with the warden. They work together, and start making money off of the convicts. This also allows Andy to do for others inside the prison. He starts a library with funds from his local government.

While in jail he meets a person who says that he knows the real murder of Andys wife. Andy chooses to help him get an education while in prison, and the inmate says he will help Andy with his jail time. The inmates struggles at first, but Andy helps him along the way and he is able to get a diploma. The inmates says he will help Andy out from his conviction. The warden finds out and has this inmate killed, because Andy is doing illegal things for the warden on the inside. After Andy finds out about the murder, he plans an escape, and it is very creative.

I will not ruin the ending if you have not seen the movie. But it does a great job of the old saying do not judge a book by its cover. Andy goes to jail for a crime he did not commit, but makes the best of his situation anyways.

The movie on its original release did not do as well as it has since it has made its way to home video. The story telling is great, and all the characters complement each other very well. I would recommend this movie to any person looking for a good film to watch. Even if they are not looking to get into films. It is a great film, and is rated as one of the highest films of all time.
