My review Star Wars Episode V

Star Wars Empire Strikes Back is considered by many the best star wars film in the franchise. This is for many reasons. One major reason is the dark tone throughout the film. There are many scenes that have dark actions happen, or dark visuals. The first dark visuals are shown when Luke first gets captured by the snow monster. There are visuals of the monster eating another animal, and Luke being hung upside down to show that he is going to be eaten next. Following this Luke kills the monster by injuring it, and then going into the snow to possibly freeze to death. After he is laying there Hon Solo saves him, but has to put him in an animal to keep him warm. This is within the first few minutes. Following this Luke goes to another planet and has to find Yoda. When he land on this planet his ship gets stuck in muck. The planet has very clear dark tones to show that this trip may lead to nothing and Luke may be stranded on the planet. While on the planet he confronts what he thinks is Darth Vader in a cave and ends up hurting him to only see his face in the defeated thing in the cave. Following this he leaves the planet because he sees visions of his friends being trapped. This is True and Hon Solo who saved him in the beginning of the film was frozen in carbon. While Luke tries to save Hon he has to confront Vader who sprung a trap on him. While Luke is facing him he learns that Vader is his father, and in the process losses a hand. Then Luke falls nearly to his death, but is saved by his friends. The film ends with many questions about what is going to happen in the future.

This film to me is great, but the predecessor a new hope was better in my opinion. In a new hope Luke starts his journey not knowing what is going on, and ends up a hero in the end. While Empire Strikes back does a great job story telling, it leaves to many questions unanswered. The third film in the trilogy wraps everything up. Yet, the whole film tries to wrap up everything, and makes the film unable to stand alone. A new hope leaves doors open for another film, it does a great job alowing the film to stand alone. Over all empire strikes back is an amazing film in its self. I would give the film four and a half stars out of five.
